Draft for committee review
Cookie information
STAGING REVIEW: Run a final cookie scan after analytics, forms, Teamup and any map/social embeds are configured. Do not copy the old cookie page’s claims blindly.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device by websites and embedded services. Similar technologies may also use browser storage. Some are needed for basic operation and security; others may require a visitor’s choice before they are set.
Services to include in the cookie audit
- WordPress, Astra, Spectra and the hosting platform
- WPForms Lite and anti-spam/security processing
- Embedded Teamup calendar
- Optional external mapping, social and community links
- Any analytics or marketing tools added before launch; none are assumed from the old site’s setup
Your choices
The live site must provide an appropriate consent control if non-essential cookies or equivalent storage are enabled. Browser controls can also remove or block stored data, though some functions may then work differently.
Calendar and other embedded content
The What’s On page includes a Teamup calendar. This must be checked separately from ordinary links: embedded services can connect to their provider when a page loads. The audit must establish what storage is used, why it is used, how long it lasts and whether a consent or click-to-load control is required.
Before the live website launches
Complete a logged-out cookie and storage inventory across the actual live pages and form interactions, including third-party services. Record each item’s provider, purpose, duration and category; configure any required consent controls and check that rejecting or withdrawing consent works. This staging page is not evidence that a cookie scan or consent implementation has been completed.
